Active Minds Mini Series is a self-paced, discovery-based early learning program designed to promote parent and child interaction and communication. Active Minds Mini Series serves children 2-3 years and their parents/primary caregivers and younger siblings. Supported by a bilingual team of Early Learning Specialists, parents and children actively engage together in hands-on experiences for 90 minutes, two days per week for a four-week cycle.
Priority for enrollment is given to English language learners and children who do not have access to a quality early childhood education experience.
With the objective of building parents’ confidence and skill in their role as facilitator of their children’s learning, the Early Learning Specialist will provide each parent with a personalized learning plan/checklist, based on their child’s Ages and Stages Questionnaire. The checklist identifies the specific developmental domain and skills that the parent will target in guiding the child’s activities during the class.
Active Minds Mini Series assists parents in developing their role as their child’s first teacher by highlighting teaching points to promote positive techniques as parents interact with their children. These teaching points focus on conversation, problem-solving, explanations, and questioning.
