Provider Appreciation Night 2018

Every year Community Resources for Children celebrates Napa County child care providers and thanks them for the important work that they do.  At our signature Game Night evening, EleFun was the hit of the party, with many providers wishing they could take the fun game home with them to share with the children. This was closely followed by Bingo and Connect 4. More than 25 child care providers enjoyed a fun evening of games, delicious food and wine, and of course raffle prizes!  A special thanks to Bank of Stockton for sponsoring the event!

Announcing CRC’s Annual Provider Appreciation Night

Wine and food will be provided as well as the chance to win fabulous prizes!  Please register here.

Puppets & Communication – recap

We had fun with puppets last week – puppet play, story time and make your own finger puppets and paper bag puppets! Did you know that talking through or with puppets motivates communication? This is especially important for young toddlers who have learned their first words but are not yet able to communicate their needs through words.

Resources for Helping Children Recover from Trauma

It is with great sadness that we post resources yet again for how to help children recover after a traumatic event. As always, limit exposure to media and adult conversation, use age appropriate language and assure your child that he or she is safe.

Join us for Puppets and Communication on March 15th, 1-3 PM

Join us for our next session of Community Connections to Early Learning Activity.  It’s free, it’s fun and materials will be provided for children to make their own puppets. Please note, these activities are appropriate for children ages 0-5 and usually draw a crowd so we have secured the  Napa Valley Community Foundation-Community Conference Center (next to CRC) again.  There is no need to pre-register. We look forward to seeing you!

Active Minds Learning Celebration

We are so proud of these families who just completed the Active Minds class and had their learning celebration. Parents were empowered with new tools to engage with their children (ages 2-3) to support their growth and development. Some of these children have older siblings who went through the program – great to see the younger ones finally get their turn!

We had a great family literacy night with The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

More than 50 budding readers and scientists along with their parents and caregivers enjoyed an evening of arts and crafts based on The Very Hungry Caterpillar, story time, viewing live caterpillars up close and learning about the life cycle of a caterpillar. Families went home with their very own copy of the popular book by Eric Carle and are making plans to come back to the Toy Library and Early Learning Center to see the growing caterpillars turn into butterflies.

Celebrate Reading With The Very Hungry Caterpillar

A celebration of the love of books, reading and learning with The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The evening event includes story time, art, science, math, fun activities and more for children ages 0-5! Register for this FREE and fun family event, as space is limited. The first 50 families to arrive will receive a free book.

Great Turnout For Music & Movement

We had a great turnout last week for our first Community Connections to Early Learning (CCEL) this year. 50 children and their families/caregivers enjoyed singing and dancing to music played by Sing with Savannah. The children and adults engaged with the music by clapping, rocking, jumping or shaking their paper instruments – we had fun making paper guitars, maracas and ribbon wands. Our next CCEL takes place on March 15th and will feature puppets with an emphasis on communication skills.

CRC Helps Napa Families Build New Memories

Thank you Help-Portrait East Bay/Berkeley and volunteers for your time, kindness and compassion today. Thank you private donors, Golden Bagel Cafe, Starbucks, Walmart, Safeway, Trader Joe’s-Napa,CA and Bank of Stockton for providing bagels, coffee, snacks, frames and supplies to make this day possible. More than 40 Napa families in need were overjoyed to receive professional family portraits and some silly Holiday ones as well. It’s been an incredibly rewarding day seeing a 92-year-old grandma receive her first ever family portrait with all 4 generations of her family; a family that lost their home in the fires were brought to tears when presented with their family portraits; and a woman from Danville drove up with baby blankets and Christmas decorations for the families. A million thanks for this beautiful day!
